About GenZYears

A blog about the most important generation on the planet — written by two guys who aren’t in it.

GenZYears is a blog about Gen Z — the culture, the economics, the trends, the mental health conversations, the memes that accidentally became social movements, and everything else that makes this generation one of the most fascinating stories in modern history.

We cover it all: lifestyle, streaming culture, money, relationships, work, and the big-picture stuff that shapes how young people think and live. If it matters to Gen Z — or it should — we’re writing about it.

“Ignore Gen Z if you want. Just know that they’re going to be running companies, writing laws, and setting the cultural agenda for the next 50 years.”

Why We Started This

Here’s the honest answer: most Gen Z coverage is bad. It’s either written by people who clearly Googled “what do young people like” before sitting down to write, or it’s full of panic and condescension dressed up as analysis.

Gen Z is roughly 2 billion people — about 30% of the global population — with over $360 billion in spending power in the US alone. They’re the most digitally fluent, most diverse, and arguably most adaptable generation in history. They grew up with the internet baked into their brains, lived through a pandemic during their formative years, and entered adulthood during one of the most economically chaotic periods in modern times.

That story deserves to be told well. So we built GenZYears to do exactly that — honestly, clearly, and without the talking-down-to-you energy that makes most Gen Z coverage unbearable to read.

Meet RJ & Sid

Here’s the thing — neither of us is Gen Z. And we think that’s actually the point. We’re not here to speak for the generation. We’re here because we find it genuinely fascinating, and we think most of the coverage gets it wrong.

RJ

Co-Founder · Millennial

RJ is a Millennial who grew up watching the internet get invented and never really recovered. He’s close enough to Gen Z to get it, but old enough to remember when “going viral” wasn’t a career plan. He covers culture, work, and mental health — and has strong opinions about all of it.

Sid

Co-Founder · Gen X

Sid is Gen X — the generation that was too young for Boomers and too old for Millennials, and honestly fine with that. He comes to GenZYears as a genuine outsider who finds this generation worth paying close attention to. He covers economics, politics, and big-picture trends, and asks “but is that actually true though?” about basically everything.

What We Believe

Gen Z isn’t a monolith. We don’t treat an entire generation like it’s one person. They don’t all think the same, vote the same, or care about the same things — and we’ll say that loudly and often.

Facts first. If we cite a stat, it’s a real one. If something isn’t confirmed, we’ll tell you. The internet has enough confident misinformation — we don’t need to add to the pile.

No fluff. We write in plain English. No academic buzzwords, no dumbing it down. Just clear, honest writing that respects the reader’s time.
